One question that comes up often is “How do I even find a therapist?” When it comes to finding a therapist, you have many options. But how do you narrow down your choices and find one who’s the right fit for you and can work with you on your specific concerns?

Whether you’re looking around and considering therapy or you’re ready to start, here’s what you can expect when it comes to finding a provider who’s right for you with SonderMind. 

We do the work for you 

At SonderMind, we understand that it’s not always easy to know which therapist to go with. Finding the right therapist and having a good rapport with your therapist is important to your success in therapy. That’s why we get to know your likes and preferences and the type of therapist you’re looking for. 

Then, we connect you with a therapist who fits your preferences. We do all the heavy lifting. You don’t have to choose from a provider directory. 

We also understand that therapy is very individual. So we’re not a subscription service. You pay as you go, based on the number of sessions that you need. What’s more? You can use your insurance. And if you don’t use insurance, we have competitive self-pay options. 

Here’s how it works.

1. First, we get to know you

Your preferences are important. That’s why we want to get to know you. You tell us a little more about what you’re looking for by answering a few questions about yourself. You can do this online or over the phone.

You tell us about who’s getting therapy. 
You let us know what kind of support you’re looking for. It’s okay if you’re not sure. We can help guide you. 

2. Then, we find you therapists who fit what you’re looking for.

We’ll connect you with local therapists in your area within 24-48 hours. Our therapists are licensed and held to the highest standards of care.

You decide if they’re the right fit. If you find that the therapist you chose is not quite the right fit, we’ll connect you with other therapists until you find someone who’s right for you.

3. Next, you reach out to the provider you choose

Once you find someone you like, you can reach out to them to get to know them better. You can chat or message with your chosen therapist before your first appointment. We want to make sure that you’re comfortable with your therapist before you meet with them. When you feel comfortable, you can schedule your first in-person or virtual session. You also finish setting up your profile.  

As you prepare to meet your therapist, here are some frequently asked questions that can help you get ready for your first session.

We know things come up. That’s why we put you in control of managing your appointments. If you want to change your appointment time or reschedule, you can easily do it via an online platform, giving you control and flexibility to manage your schedule.

Your privacy is of utmost importance

Rest assured, the information you provide to SonderMind is private and confidential. We will only use the information you provide to connect you with a therapist. When you meet with a therapist, maintaining your privacy is part of your therapist’s professional code of ethics and a condition of their professional license. Your therapist will not share what you share, unless in certain situations. You can learn more about these exceptions, and your therapist will typically review them with you in your first session.
