Answer a few simple questions to get started!
Hi there! My name is Heather Beister, and I'm a licensed professional counselor (Missouri) and licensed mental health counselor (Iowa) with a passion for supporting individuals through their mental health journeys. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling in 2018, and since then, I've been dedicated to helping clients navigate a wide range of issues. I work with clients aged 25-64 and am available after 4pm to return calls, texts, and other messages. Coming from a small town where everyone knows everyone, I've learned the importance of finding privacy and creating a safe space for my clients. I have personal experience with mental illness, as I manage my own anxiety and am the parent of an adult child with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). This firsthand knowledge gives me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families dealing with BPD, and I know how crucial it is to have support. My focus areas include anxiety disorders and stress management. I believe that when people are working through difficult emotions or trying to overcome struggles, they need guidance and support from someone who can help them make sense of their thoughts and feelings. I strive to be that person—someone who listens without judgment and helps clients determine their next steps. I love my job because each day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth, and these differences guide my choice in therapeutic modalities. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Solution-focused therapy, and more. I am passionate about working with clients to improve their mental health and quality of life through supportive counseling services. I also believe in the importance of counselors supporting one another. By sharing my experiences, I hope to offer a sympathetic ear to fellow counselors when they need it most. If you’re looking for a compassionate and experienced counselor to help you navigate your mental health journey, I would be honored to work with you. Feel free to reach out, and let's take the next steps together.
